The Contrarian (founded by Jennifer Rubin and Norm Eisen)
Jennifer Rubin is an American political commentator who wrote opinion columns for The Washington Post. Norm Eisen is an American attorney, author, and former diplomat. Together they founded The Contrarian in January 2025 to be (in their words) “unflinching, unapologetic, and unwavering in its commitment to truth-telling”. All profits from The Contrarian go toward “ongoing litigation against Trump”.
Democracy Docket (founded by Marc Elias)
Democracy Docket, founded in 2020 by Marc Elias (an American elections attorney for the Democratic Party), is a website focused on voting rights and election litigation in the United States. Self-described as working “from an unapologetically pro-democracy standpoint”, Democracy Docket covers election and democracy litigation, access to voting, gerrymandering, election redistricting, executive overreach, the rule of law, etc. They state that Marc Elias is not involved in their news-gathering process and Democracy Docket is 100% independent from the Elias Law Group.
Hopium Chronicles by Simon Rosenberg
Simon Rosenberg has worked for 30 years as strategist/consultant for the Democratic Party. He founded the New Democrat Network, a centrist think tank and advocacy group based in Washington, D.C (founded 1996, closed in March 2024). Rosenberg has many interviews with political leaders, podcasters, and journalists about the state of the country.
Letters from an American by Heather Cox Richardson
Heather Cox Richardson is an American history professor at Boston College. Letters from an American was started in September 2019 as a daily synopsis of political events associated with the (first) impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. In her words, Letters from an American “explores what it means, and what it has meant, to be an American”. This newsletter deals with contemporary events and how they relate to historical developments.
Paul Krugman is an American economist and is the Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He was a columnist for The New York Times from 2000 to 2024. Krugman focuses mostly on the economic state of the US and current events in politics.
